Dear Glock Shooter,

Too many people are wasting their money paying someone else to maintain or modify their Glock when they could easily be doing it themselves!

Or they never do any maintenance on their gun, letting it deteriorate and become unreliable, less accurate, potentially dangerous, or just plain boring because they lack knowledge or confidence or can't afford to send their weapon to a qualified gunsmith.

It’s hard to sift through the inadequate technical manuals, gun store BS and the confounding tips scattered throughout the Internet to figure out how to do it right.  That’s why you’re going to be so glad you found this website.
If you are ready to save tons of money and time by learning to maintain and modify your Glock Pistol yourself, then simply click the "Buy Now" button to use your credit card, an e-check or PayPal and soon you will have the ultimate guide in your own hands!  If you would rather send me a check or money order, email me and we'll make the arrangements.

I wish you the best in learning how to easily maintain, repair and modify your own Glock!

Sincerely,

I MADE SURE EVERY PROCEDURE REALLY WORKED

Over and over, I detail stripped my Model 23 down to the last spring as I tested and re-tested every procedure to make sure they made sense and worked flawlessly.  After months of compiling, gathering, sorting-out and clarifying the best information out there, I was finally satisfied that I could teach anyone how to safely and effectively work on thier Glock!

WE DID IT!

My father -- the well-known author of Living With Glocks and numerous other books and magazine articles about firearms -- contributed his unique perspective to the book and Paladin Press published it.  Now it’s one of Paladin’s best-sellers!  If you’re familiar with books and resources about firearms, I’m sure you know Paladin Press.  They’re the established leader when it comes to bringing useful gun- and defense-related books and resources to the public.

I KNOW HOW TO MAKE COMPLICATED THINGS CLEAR

I have a knack for breaking down daunting tasks and communicating them clearly and understandably.  For years I instructed surgeons on the use of new medical equipment with three-dimensional computer animation I created.  I’ve developed training videos for nurses and EMTs.  And for years I wrote and shot for VW Trends magazine, the former premier publication for vintage Volkswagen enthusiasts.  I’ve applied every bit of my instructional experience to How to Customize Your Glock.  And, whether it’s making sure doctors have a clear understanding of how to use a new medical device or making sure you know how to safely take apart and reassemble your Glock, I take my responsibility very seriously.  That’s why I spent countless hours painstakingly reviewing every procedure to ensure that each one is safe, complete and correct.  My innate sense of logic and organization helped me to develop a truly useful resource for every Glock owner.

After all that work, I’m happy to share this great resource with you.  It’s packed full of useful information you can use right away.  I’ve organized it into four levels of complexity so that even the novice Glock owner can quickly become comfortable in maintaining and modifying his or her pistol.  As your comfort level increases, you can swim into the deeper waters of more complete disassembly.  Along the way you will learn how to substitute performance components for stock items.  Plus, if something ever breaks on your Glock, you can repair it in the comfort of your own home.  Or even at the range or in the field if you need to!

By the end,
you will be just as knowledgeable as an Official Glock Armorer.
My book shows you the correct repair, upkeep, mainenance, lubrication, care, disassembly and re-assembly proceedures for your Glock Pistol.
Glock maintenance, accessories, lubrication, disassembly, customization, assembly, repair, upgrade, are easy and safe using my book, How to Customize Your Glock.
My name is Morgan Boatman, I’m a professional writer and photographer and I’ve been a gun enthusiast since I was a boy.  When I was introduced to Glock pistols over a decade ago, I knew they were different.

Since then, all my training -- at Gunsite with the legendary Jeff Cooper, Louis Awerbuck and elsewhere -- has been with my Glocks.  I compete with them.  I carry them.  In short, I live with them.

Glocks are great.  They’re tough, efficient and safe while being lightweight and easy to modify to your unique needs.  But since my first Glock, it’s been a long road to gather the information I needed to make the most of this terrific weapon.

In the beginning, I had heard that my new Glock needed to be maintained and cared for a little differently than my Colt Commander 1911 or old Smith and Wesson Model 29.  I read that it didn’t need much lubrication.  In fact, I later learned that too much lubrication will cause malfunctions.  I had read about custom components and wondered what kind of modifications might be possible.  The manual that came with the gun was too general, poorly illustrated and hard to follow.  I read about an Armorer’s course offered by Glock in Smyrna, Georgia but it was open only to Law Enforcement personnel and Glock dealers.
The first page of each section gives an introduction to the components dealt with in that chapter and offers some recommendations.
With a number of carefully labelled photos, I familiarize you with landmarks and the components you will be handling.
Before the proceedure begins, we go over safety one more time.
Most of the photos in the book are step-by-step illustrations of exactly what to do for each proceedure. My carefully worded instructions walk you through each step of disassembly and reassembly.
I WALK YOU THROUGH STEP-BY-STEP

This book fills-in where the factory Glock user’s manual leaves you hanging.  Every procedure is broken down into clear and complete steps.  And, as I said, not once did I use the phrase “simply reverse order to reassemble.”  Reassembly is crucial and should not be left to the user’s imagination!

By organizing the book into four levels, I’ve made all the information accessible to both beginners and those who simply need a brief reminder at some critical point in a process of maintenance, repair or modification.  You will be able to use this book for as long as you own your Glock.

Throughout the book, I never make the assumption that you know where to start.  At the same time, I never talk down to you.  Whether you are just starting out with guns or Glocks or you are a seasoned shooter with tons of experience tinkering, you’ll appreciate my thorough and easy-to-follow instructions.

Glocks are as close to mechanical perfection as humanly possible.  That is why we appreciate them.  Writing and designing this book, I’ve endeavored to make its organization and expression as straightforward, logical and safe as the Glock Pistol itself.  I’ve made this book as close to perfection as humanly possible.

Remember,YOU can Upgrade, Repair, Maintain and Modify your Glock Pistol YOURSELF in just a few minutes.  My book is really the only owners manual that should have come with your new or used Glock.
Morgan,

The book really helped a lot. I had purchased the extended slide lock, extended slide release, and extended magazine release, plus an EFK ported Fire Dragon barrel, a steel captive recoil rod and spring, the Pachmyer rubber grips, along with some of the grip extenders for the mags. Your book made it very easy to install all of this stuff, well worth the price. Without your book it could very well have developed into one of those frustrating projects. It cut the learning curve to absolutely nil! Your book made it a pleasant afternoon, and allowed me to complete everything in about an hour with none of those unexpected results. I am looking forward to taking my 'new' gun out to the range to see how it performs. The part on oiling the Glock was helpful, too, since the owner's manual sort of glosses over this part after telling you too much oil can cause problems. your text was much more specific about how much and where it goes.

I would strongly recommend this book to everyone who owns a Glock. It actually should be included with every new Glock, along with the much more vague owner's manual.

Yes, you may feel free to put my review on your website. I would be pleased if you would. Having worked in industries where tech manuals are often necessary for ancient equipment I have learned the value of clear concise, instructions and how they can help cut the learning curve and save time and money.

Morgan,

Around half an hour after sitting down with your book and my Glock, I've already successfully installed a NY trigger spring and new connector. I'm actually gun-parts phobic, having had the mixed blessing of a mechanically talented older brother...he's always kept our guns running (while wondering sotto voce at my ability to break anything with moving parts...)  Thanks again for your help and extra effort in getting my copy to me.

Morgan,

As a new gun owner, the clear illustrations and step-by-step directions provided have given me the confidence I can maintain and enhance my Glocks long-term.  The projects I have attempted thus far have gone very well.

Hi Morgan,

I received your book and have been enjoying reading it. The illustrations are light years ahead of the Glock Armorer's Manual.  Over the weekend I got up the courage to detail strip the slide and frame of my elderly 2nd generation G-19. I would never have attempted it without your book. I had recently sent this G-19 back to the factory for cleaning, so I was amazed at the amount of crud (black stuff with brass shavings) in places like the firing pin channel and extractor recesses. Apparently they did not clean these areas. One surprising benefit of the detailed cleaning: improved accuracy!

Sincerely,

Morgan,

All Aces! This morning your book arrived.  You have done a really great job putting this manual together, and I've never seen such great detail in the pictures or descriptions. I'm ready to customize "Barbie" (so named because of all the "accessories" she's going to get!) as soon as my parts arrive.

I always believed I would meet good people once I bought a Glock. There's something about the mystique of the ultimate design that draws a different type of engineering mindset to the old equation of "point and shoot" technology. If anything proves this, it's your books.

My first pistol, outside of the 1911-1A I carried in Viet Nam, was an 1847 Navy Colt cap and ball .44. You know the piece, load each cylinder, cock the hammer with the heel of your hand on the way up and out of the holster, and watch the trail of smoke follow the ball to the target. Wow, what a rush! I think Glock has brought back that kind of excitement.  But that would not be possible without your book! I believe it should be the manual that is included with every Glock! It is "Gunsmithing 101 for Glocks"! Thank you for a clear, concise, easy to understand manual that will be on my workbench for years to come.

You're the best, Morgan, and tell your Dad I think he did a great job too!

Morgan,

Great book! I feel confident that I’ll be able to detail strip and keep my 19 runnin' if one of its few parts decides to expire on me. The book was simple, concise and made a lot of sense. Please thank your dad for me, and thanks for signing the book also!

The 19 and I are getting along much better, Cleaned and oiled, (and broken in better as well) it is runnin' fine. I'm getting used to the Glock trigger and grip as well, and my groups are drastically better. Thanks for your advice.

"This is the Book That Should Come with Every New and Used Glock!"
What do you do?

Grab my book! I will walk you through EVERY STEP as you take your gun apart and put it back together.  There are no vague “reverse steps to reassemble” cop-outs that you find in other books.  No way!  That’s worthless.  I’ll show you how to get in and out correctly and safely. I will give you the confidence you need to be in total control of your own pistol.

GLOCK PERFECTION

The Glock Pistol is what every machine in our world should be: simple, effective, functional and tough.  It’s well known that Glock pistols are like no other guns in the world.  Their durability and reliability are unmatched.  Gaston Glock’s innovative combination of materials and mechanics to create a near-perfect sidearm is nothing short of revolutionary.  An underappreciated factor in Glock's design is the fact that your Glock is one of the few firearms you can with 100% confidence completely maintain and modify without specialized tools.

THE ONLY SPECIALIZED TOOL YOU NEED TO CUSTOMIZE OR REPAIR YOUR GLOCK IS KNOWLEDGE.

The problem is that reliable, trustworthy information on Glocks is hard to come by.  The manual included with your weapon is little more than a list of warnings to protect the manufacturer.  It should give clear, step-by-step instructions on repair and modification like a Chilton Guide.

And really, you are not getting the full potential from your pistol if you are not experimenting with the multitude of Glock accessories offered by Glock and third-parties.  The question is, how to do it right.

Although the Glock may be the most popular pistol around, authoritative, truly useful information has been tough to come by… until now.
ONCE YOU UNDERSTAND IT, IT’S LIKE PLAYING WITH LEGOS!

When I learned that my Glock could be stripped down to the very last component without so much as a screwdriver, I was excited to give it a try.  I discovered that tuning and adjustments could be made without files or specialized tools but simply by swapping inexpensive components.  It’s not the same as traditional gunsmithing.  Plus, almost any customization you make can be easily reversed if you don’t like the result!  Once you know what you’re doing, it’s more like playing with Legos than brain surgery.

HAVE YOU GOT THE DO-IT-YOURSELF SPIRIT, TOO?

I’ve always been the kind of person who likes to do things myself.  Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved taking things apart and putting them back together.  I like to know how things work.  So, when I got my Glock and my enthusiasm for it grew, I wanted to know how to take care of it so it would always work as well as it did brand new.  I also wanted to know how to customize it for certain applications.  And when it came to maintaining and even modifying my Glock, I didn’t want to have to pay someone else to do it for me, I wanted to do it myself.

So, I started my search.  I started with the Glock Owner’s Manual.  Now, there’s a lot of good information in there, but from my perspective, and maybe yours, it just wasn’t enough.  It didn’t have the detailed how-to instructions I needed to feel confident gutting my Glock and knowing I’d be able to put it back together again in the right order.  I knew that an error in the re-assembly could be costly and, even more importantly, dangerous.

TRYING TO FIND USEFUL HANDS-ON INFO TOOK FOREVER!

At the time there wasn’t one single reliable, comprehensive source of information about my pistol.  I couldn’t find the final word on cleaning, oiling, modifying, repairing or customizing anywhere.  I was not willing to place my mortal safety in the hands of inconsistent and questionable advice from uninformed gun shopkeepers or hawkers at gun shows. Or some teenager who happens to know how to put up a webpage or post in a forum, but has only handled a Glock once in his life, and probably an Airsoft one at that!

In doing my research, I spent countless hours dredging through newsgroups, websites, the Glock Armorer’s Manual and other sources looking for clear, comprehensive, and easy-to-follow instructions.
IT WAS JUST LIKE LOOKING FOR A NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK!

I’d get halfway into a new procedure and they’d hit me with, “reverse steps to reassemble.”  What?!!  I needed more details than that.

And I wasn’t looking for a huge, rambling tome with only occasional tips for disassembly thrown in with loads of useless Glock trivia.

I wanted something simple, direct, and clear with TONS OF PHOTOS.

Finally, I got so frustrated that I decided to write the book myself!  As I said, I’m a professional photographer and writer, so I knew I could do a better job than what was out there.

I SORTED THROUGH ALL THE INFORMATION I COULD FIND

I gathered information from all over the Internet.  As you’ve probably already noticed yourself, there is a ton of information out there, scattered across a lot of different websites.  People love to tell what they’ve done with their Glocks.  I must have looked through virtually all of it.  I found that some of this information was better than others.  Some left out key points that are very important.  Some were just outright wrong.  But there were some pearls out there, good information that added a critical new piece to the puzzle I was assembling.

I sorted through all the information I had gathered from speaking with experienced Armorers looking for the advice and procedures that were really safe and useful.  I translated portions of the technical manuals, including the Glock Armorer’s Manual,  into sensible language.  I simplified and streamlined some procedures, while fleshing out others.  I filled in the gaps so every specific step was covered, making the process easy to follow as I disassembled and then re-assembled my Glock.
Morgan:

The detailed instructions, accompanied by photos are by far the real value in your manual.

I'm a tactile learner, and you've laid out an easy style to lean from while I'm actually doing it.  The "reverse the steps" effort that you made for reassembly of the weapon are extraordinary, and key to a proper learning strategy.

Most manuals are reasonably good in the "getting you there", but weak in "bringing you back".  The simple fact that you took the time to design this "full circle" into the manual is why this book stands out head and shoulders above the rest of its type.

Glad to hear that the book is proving so popular.  Not a surprise really.  Usable transfer of correct information, in the right format...for a hugely popular weapon...what could be better?

I WANT TO BE SURE YOU’RE SAFE WORKING WITH YOUR GLOCK

My goal is not only to describe step-by-step procedures to replace a stock part with a useful third-party component, although this book does that exceptionally well.  I want people who read my book to understand how their gun works.  With true comprehension, disassembly and reassembly become second-nature, not just a set of arbitrary steps subject to error.  True comprehension -- total familiarity with your pistol -- will eliminate the possibility of incorrect reassembly, the most critical phase of any modification.

There are over 200 photos in the book illustrating the procedures with absolute clarity.  I wanted no doubt left in the reader’s mind.  After all, we are dealing with a potentially deadly weapon. Incorrect assembly could be fatal.
Hi Morgan!

I recently purchased "How to Customize Your Glock," which I used to give my G19 the first decent thorough cleaning it's ever had, right down to the firing pin channel liner.  Your instructions were clear, concise, and easily understandable, which is a lot more than I can say about other such manuals.  BTW, thanks to you and your dad for the autographs!

Hello Morgan,

I am a handy guy, I repair my own vehicles and house but when it comes to firearms that I have worked hard to afford I become leery of tearing them down to see how they tick.  Especially a pistol as unique as the Glock.  Your book is great, you have found a way to express how simple it is to completely disassemble and reassemble Glock pistols.  Excellent job.
